How It Works: The “Trigger” for Your Smart Home
The Tapo T100 is a “sensor” device. It doesn’t connect to your Wi-Fi directly. Instead, it uses a reliable, low-power wireless signal to talk to a Tapo Smart Hub (like the H100 or H200, sold separately). This hub is the “brain” that connects all your Tapo sensors to your Wi-Fi network and the Tapo app.
- Place the Sensor: Use the included 3M adhesive or built-in magnet to mount it on any wall or shelf.
- Link to Hub: Add the sensor in your Tapo app, which links it to your Hub.
- Create Automations: Use the app to create “Smart Actions.” For example: “IF the T100 detects motion, THEN turn on the Tapo Smart Bulb.”
What is it Good For?
- Security Alerts: Receive an instant notification on your phone if motion is detected while you’re away. You can even set it to trigger your Tapo Hub’s alarm to deter intruders.

Good to Knows (Please Read!)
- HUB REQUIRED: This sensor will not work on its own. It requires a TP-Link Tapo Smart Hub (H100 or H200) to function and connect to the Tapo app.
- Long Battery Life: The included CR2450 battery is designed to last over a year, giving you set-and-forget convenience.
- Adjustable Sensitivity: You can change the motion sensitivity (3 levels) in the Tapo app. This is perfect for adjusting the range and helping to prevent false alarms from pets.
- Flexible Placement: The sensor can be placed on a shelf, mounted to a wall with the included adhesive, or attached to metal surfaces with its built-in magnet.
